Rethinking Leadership in the Lutheran Church in Liberia: A Call to a Biblical Servant Leadership

Oretha Miller Davis

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to provide a Biblical and theological understanding of Biblical servant leadership in the church to make leaders and members embrace and be committed to a church leadership model with an emphasis on Jesus’s model and mission and Paul’s leadership. These two leadership models are distinct and crucial for addressing this problem. They both view leadership from a servant perspective, which may guide the Lutheran Church in Liberia to address leadership issues. Scripture must be a guide to develop leaders whose principles and functions are enlightened and equipped for the challenges facing the Lutheran church in Liberia. Through our commitment to this biblical servant leadership model, a model that is taught at meetings, Bible studies and other activities of the church, I hope that there will be a reformation of leadership in the Lutheran church in Liberia.
